Having received Arts Council Funding for our final phase of development for BALANCING ACTS, we are now looking for a new MALE contributor to be audio interviewed in order to create new material which will complete the show.
The performance is based around a series of interviews with people who wish to share their personal story on what it means to live and cope with depression. We are particularly interested in hearing from people that use a distinct 'coping mechanism' to deal with the condition. The interview will be used in the performance and translated through a variety of medium such as film, dance, and physical theatre.
We want to ensure the material is balanced between male and female experiences of depression, and are looking for one final male respondent to complete the show.
If you think you would be interested, please get in touch by completing a short questionnaire HERE
Please feel free to email us at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions, to discuss anything further or if you would like the questionnaire sent to you as a Word document.
ABOUT THE SHOW
BALANCING ACTS is a solo-performance which uncovers unique documentary perspectives on and experiences of depression and healing through sensorial and interdisciplinary means. Incorporating audio interview, film, verbatim, performance and contemporary dance, the work opens up and responds to intimate and honest reflections from a variety of individuals who cope with the condition in different and diverse ways such as deep sea diving, sex, performing and painting, in an attempt to challenge the stigma which proceeds to surround it.
BALANCING ACTS was first shown as a work-in-progress in March 2016 at Camden People's Theatre. This final phase of Research & Development will turn BALANCING ACTS into a finished performance which will be presented on the 7th and 8th December 2016 at Camden People's Theatre.
